Good evening track fans. Sorry we are a week behind on updates but here we go…
The boys team had a tough end to the season finishing a disappointing 7th at the CAC meet. Top performers for the boys included Junior Adriel Cedano who finished 6th in the 100m (11.86) and finished 5th in the triple jump (39’2″). Sophomore Jose Leclerc ran a personal best time of 5:07.72 in the mile to finish 8th. Sophomore Alex Pedrero finished 6th in the 110 hurdles (18.75). Junior Bryan Rivas finished 4th in the 400 hurdles (63.38). Our top finisher was Peterson Braga who finished second in the shot put (39’3″). The good news for this squad is that many of the top point earners are underclassmen that will be returning next year and the growth that we saw this year gives us a lot of reasons to be optimistic. Adriel Cedano moves on to compete at the MIAA division 2 meet this Sunday at Norwell High School.
Amazing end to the CAC season for the girls. The girls ran away with the CAC meet title by scoring 135 points. Second place, Shawsheen, had 79.33. Tremendous performances all around with event winners including Mariama Kamara in the 100 (12.82, new school record), Freshman Jocelyn Poste in the 800 (2:36.35, new school record), Katherine Cabral was a double winner in the 200 (27.11) and the 400 (61.05, new school record), Martin Simon won the long jump (16’9.75) and Tracey Flores won the Discus (84’11”). Thats right SIX individual winners.
Second place performers included Martin Simon in the 100 (13.21) and the 200 (27.88), Owliyo Mohamud in the 400 (63.14) and Sylvia Agyewaa in the 100 hurdles (18.16).
For their efforts Sophomore Martin Simon was awarded the field event MVP for the meet and Senior Katherine Cabral was awarded the track event MVP. This is the third year in a row that Cabral has won the MVP of the CAC meet.

This girls team is very talented, deep, and well rounded. We placed in every event except 2. While we are graduating a strong group of seniors we have many underclassmen that are working hard to fill the spots that are going to be left behind. Moving on the the MIAA division 2 meet next sunday at Norwell High are: Mariama Kamara in the 100, Katherine Cabral in the 100, 400, and Long Jump, Owliyo Mohamud in the 400, Martin Simon in the Triple Jump, Long Jump, and 100, and the 4x100m relay team. We just had a handful of other athletes just miss qualifying for this meet. More to come next year.
