Last Tuesday the boys and girls both traveled to Gr. Lowell and came away with victories. The boys fought hard for a 83-52 victory. Winners included: Nelson Hernandez in the discus (108′), Alex Pedrero in the high hurdles (18.4), Bryan Rivas in the 400 hurdles (63.2). Adriel Cedano continues to score big with three victories in the high jump, triple jump, and 400m. Adriel continues to be the rock that keeps this team going. Also performing well was Nick Ieng who was a double winner in the 200m (24.2) and the 100m (11.6). On the distance side Jose Leclerc continues to win in the 2 mile (11:39) and the 800m (2:12). Jose has been the ultimate team player this season. He runs two very hard races every meet where he needs to be mentally focused the entire time and has come through for the team every time. The meet was close up to the 800m where Leclerc and sophomore Wuilfido Hernandez ran a very exciting race to finish 1-2 which sealed the meet for us.
The boys now improve to 7-1 and are tied for first place in the CAC with Shawsheen Tech. Considering what the boys have had to do to get to this point you have no choice but to admire this team. The fight and compete level of this team is the best of any team I can remember. They truly are special. The dual meet season finishes next Tuesday at home V. PMA, then it is off to conference meet at Shawsheen on the 20th.
The girls improved to 9-0 with convincing wins over both Gr. Lowell Tuesday and Notre Dame of Tyngsboro Thursday. Against Gr. Lowell we took first place in every event except the triple jump and the javelin. Winners include: Masireh Ceesay in the shot put (27’2″), Xiana Herasme in the discus (84′), Stephanie Simon in the high jump (4’6″), Sylvia Agyeiwaa in the high hurdles (17.3), Yarid Deras in the mile (6:11), Owliyo Mohamud in the 400m (62.74), Jocelyn Poste in the 400 hurdles (75.19) and the 800m (2:46), Amanda Dias in the 2 mile (13:18). Martine Simon continues to dominate the conference with three more wins in the 100m (13.22), 200m (27.63), and the long jump (15’3″). Martine is having a great season, she is one of the best all around athletes we have ever had the privilege to have.
