On Sunday Coach Martineau was named the 2016-17 Eastern Mass Girls Indoor Track Coach of the Year by the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association. The award recognizes one coach across all divisions for achievement each season. Martineau will be presented with the award at the MSTCA awards banquet that will be held on June 4th at the Lantana in Randolph.
Comments from Coach Martineau: “I am very excited and humbled by this award. To be recognized amongst all the coaches in Eastern Mass is truly amazing. Really, this speaks to the commitment and achievement of our girls. Three years ago we started a varsity indoor track program. Through the efforts of the girls we have been able to make an impact not just on the GBL level, but at the state level. Each year our performances improve and I think it is the improvements that gained this recognition. We have also been blessed with an amazing coaching staff including Adam Aronson, Kim Huffer, Don Fay, Nate Weaver, Cesar Hernandez, Matt McCormick and the full support of our AD Amanda Alpert. These coaches are tremendously talented and great to work with. The award is great but we still have a lot of work to do. The girls are now working towards defending their 2 time CAC crown and a shot at a top ten finish at the MIAA D2 Championship.”
