On Monday and Wednesday the all division State Decathlon North competition took place at Burlington High School. The all senior boys team of Isaac Colcord, Bryan Rivas, Adriel Cedano, and Nick Ieng combined to take home 3rd place in the team competition behind Central Catholic and Watertown. There were 30 schools that took part in this two day, ten event competition. The events consist of the 100, 110 hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m, discus, javelin, triple jump, and 1500m.
Leading the way for Chelsea was Nick Ieng who scored 4752 points which took 12th in the individual competition. Adriel Cedano was right behind him in 14th place with 4613 points. Bryan Rivas took 37th with 3827 points and Isaac Colcord took 38th with 3781 points. This was an amazing way to end the year and career for this group of seniors. For four years this group has worked hard and competed in so many different events that it was only natural that they would excel in this style of competition. There are not enough words to describe what this group has meant to our program. They will be missed. Nick will continue his football and track career next year at Westfield State University (Coach Martineau’s alma mater) and Adriel will compete for mighty UMASS Lowell.
