This past Tuesday, both girls and boys competed against Northeast and Mystic Valley with both teams taking away two wins. The girls ran their record to 5-0 with a convincing 95-40 win over Northeast and a 99-35 win over Mystic Valley. Continuing to pace the team were the Simon sisters. Senior Martine Simon was a triple winner in the 100 (12.59), long jump (17’1″) and triple jump (34’7″). Martine’s mark in the triple jump sets a new school record. Sophomore Stephanie Simon was also a triple winner in the 100 hurdles (17.11), high jump (5’2″), and 200m (25.59). Stephanie set a new school record in the 200m breaking her sister Martine’s record. Also winning for Chelsea were: Yarid Deras in the 2 mile (13:12), Denali Mejia in the 400 hurdles (1:25.85), Amanda Dias in the mile (6:29), Ana Chang in the 400m (64.36), Stefanie Rodrigues in the 800m (2:51), Masireh Ceesay in the shotput (29’9″), and Jessica Martinez in the discus (91’5″). This was a great showing for our team as we head into championship season.
The boys evened their record to 2-2 with wins over Mystic Valley and Northeast. Leading the way for the boys was senior David Bui who took two firsts in the Javelin (119’8″) and triple jump (37’1″) as well as taking second in the 100m (12.12). Other winners include: Wuilfido Hernandez in the 400 hurdles (66.36) and the 800m (2:21), Jose Leclerc in the 2 mile (10:46), Alex Pedrero was a triple winner in the 110 hurdles (18.30) and the long jump (17’9″) and high jump (5’2″), Justin Turner in the mile (4:59), Luqman Shariff in the 400m (56.63), Kelvin Diaz in the 200m (23.92), Tony Bui in the shot put (38’6″) and discus (89’5″).
