This past Sunday, a group of our athletes went to the Reggie Lewis Center for the Large Schoos State Coaches Invite. Jazmany Reyes continues to run well in many different events, as he sets his name in Chelsea’s record books in the fourth different event this season (along with the 600, 800 and DMR). He would break alumni Jose Leclerc’s record by seven seconds with a time of 2:46.23. In addition to these records, Jazmany also is a part of the 4×800 record set two years ago. Stephanie Simon also had a decent day, winning the long jump with a mark of 18’2.75. Simon would beat out two other girls by a .25 and .75 quarters of an inch, making this her closest win. She would also place 2nd in the HJ (5’2), and was named Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet. Ana Chang ran the 300 in 44.51. These athletes will begin to taper in the upcoming week to start to prepare for the state meet where we expect some season bests to be ran/jumped.
