The boy’s and girl’s cross country teams made the long trek to Greater Lowell last Wednesday. Unfortunately for both teams they were on the losing end of both meets.
On the girl’s side, Yarid Deras continued her winning ways with a strong forty one second win on the 3.1 mile course running 23:05. However the next three runners were from Greater Lowell. Finishing in fifth place was Jocelyn Poste finishing in a time of 24:56. Senior captain Melanie Nguyen was next in 26:00 minutes even. Finishing behind Nguyen in seventh place was Owliyo Mohamed in 26:29. Freshman Karina Avalos was the fifth runner for the lady red devils out kicking a Greater Lowell runner in the last hundred yards finishing in 31:05. The final score was Greater lowell 26 and Chelsea 30. They have a strong top three that ultimately earned them the victory. Our top five are getting closer to Yarid who continues to run well and has only one loss in the league.
For the boy’s, junior Jose Leclerc was twenty two seconds behind the winner from Greater Lowell. The runner that beat him was third in the league meet last year so that shows that Jose is one of the top runners in the league. The next Chelsea finisher however was Demitrius Martinez who struggled to a sixth place finish. Alex Pedrero was in ninth place, senior captain Adriel Cedano was tenth and sophomore Wuilfido Hernandez was eleventh. The final score was Greater Lowell 20 Chelsea 38. We have gone against some of the stronger teams in the league the last couple of weeks. We have a tri meet this week – vs Minuteman @Northeast. Then next week we host a quad meet at Admiral’s Hill. Hopefully we can get a couple of wins from both the boy’s and girl’s side.
