Dual Meet vs Northeast
Chelsea boys and girls had their second dual meet of the season against Northeast this past Wednesday, and both came away with their second victories.
Boys won with a margin of 51-31. Through the first five events, the boys found themselves tied with Northeast through five events at 25, but they would go on to hold Northeast to 6 total points the rest of the meet (seconds in the 600 and 1000) to come away with strong finish.
Event Results:

Girls had a similar margin winning 55-22. For the second week in a row, Chelsea girls did not let the opposing team win any events except the 2 mile (we didn’t enter anyone in the event this week). Despite the small number of girls on the team, they continue to win because of the contributions coming from everyone on the team.

Northeast Invite Results
The first ever Northeast Invite took place this past weekend at the Reggie Lewis Center. This big meet includes just about any event you could think of over the course of three days. This turned out being a big meet for Chelsea as 6 new school records were set. The 400 and 200 had never been ran indoors by either Chelsea team, providing current team members to compete against one another to set them.
Starting off on Friday, Stephanie Simon triple jumped for the first time this season placing second overall with a distance of 37’10.75. This day would also turn out great for our milers as three of them would set big PRs (Ian Padilla-5:06.759, Ruben Padilla- 5:09.93, Sade Rosales- 6:32.35). The highlight though came at the end when the group of Alex Estrada (1200), Nate Nadow (400), Oscar Amaya (800), and Jazmany Reyes (1600) broke the DMR school record. Going into the meet, the group knew they had a shot at the record, but when Reyes received the baton at 7:07 it seemed unlikely. He would have needed to a run a ~4:45 split in order to do so, when his PR is 4:49 from outdoor last season. He didn’t waver, and ended up running a 4:41 split to seal the record (11:48.06)! He will be running the mile next weekend and will be looking to run in low 4:40s in the open event.
Saturday brought two competitors to Reggie Lewis. Stephanie Simon would long jump, winning the event with a mark of 17’8. Ana Chang ran the 300, running a 44.43.
Sunday would bring 5 more records. The first came when Stephanie Simon would run her first ever indoor 200, running a great time of 26.39 to set the indoor 200 record (placing 5th overall out of 170). Gloria Rodriguez would also run well (29.90, placing 78th). Stephanie’s brother, Emmanuel, would follow suit, setting the boys record (25.66), edging out three other team members. The next one would be the girls 400, as Gabby Rivas would set the record at 1:12.04. Hikerth Santizo would set the boys record at 57.20. These records were set today but all look to be improved next week, as these athletes will be able to run them again at the East Coast Invite. To end the the day Jazmany Reyes would improve the 800 record he set a few weeks ago by 3 seconds to 2:04.22.
