Girls Stay Undefeated, Now 4-0
Chelsea girls had a great meet yesterday, beating Greater Lawrence 50-36. The girls only dual meet loss last year came against Lawrence, but they finished on top this year. The girls managed to win every event except the shotput. It was a great day with a lot of PRs from many different girls including Percy Melgar (2 mile), Gloria Rodriguez (300), Ana Chang (600). One of the most impressive events of the day goes to freshman Dhalia Christmas, who continue to have big PRs ever week. She finished second overall in the shotput, throwing almost two feet further than the week before. The girls have one dual meet left where they will go up against Lynn Tech and Notre Dame, as they hope to go undefeated and 6-0 for the first time since 2018.

Boys Win a Close One, Go 3-1
Chelsea boys have not beat Lawrence in a dual meet, indoor or outdoors, since 2017. They knew this was going to be a close meet, but came out on top, 45-41. Although some of the events didn’t go the way we expected, it was many of the athletes placing 2nd, and 3rd that helped seal the win. This would be a big meet for PRs as 7 throwers all threw for their best this season, with a big one coming from Richard Flores who got second, beating the Lawrence athlete behind him by an inch. Ian Padilla (1000), and Johnny Maldonado (600), ran their respective events for the first time this season, placing third. Emmanuel Simon tied for second in the HJ. These little contributions add up, and we wouldn’t have won if it weren’t for them. In the end, the meet came down to 4×400, where Lawrence was disqualified for having athletes run their third event of the day (max is 2). Next week, the boys hope to go 4-1 for the season, as they face Lynn Tech in their final dual meet.
